Our Story

The Clark Family

Proverbs 16:9 - A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

Taylor Clark was raised in a Christian home, born to Steve and Lori Clark in Ontario, Canada. Steve worked as as police officer for the York Region Police Department just outside of Toronto, Canada. At the age of 6 Taylor's parents moved him and his brothers to Lynchburg, VA so that they could attend Lynchburg Christian Academy (known as Liberty Christian Academy now).

At the age of 12, while sitting in his 6th grade classroom, Taylor made the greatest decision of his life by making Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. It was at this time that Taylor came to an understanding of the gospel message and a heart transformation took place.

By 2007 Taylor was in his senior year at Liberty Christian Academy. As he sought the Lord for direction he was drawn toward a career in law enforcement following in his father's footsteps. By this time his older brother Brandon was working for the Lynchburg Police Department and his father was working for the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.

In June of 2007, after graduating high school, Taylor was hired by the Lynchburg Police Department as a Police Cadet.

God's Good Thing

Proverbs 18:22 - He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.

In 2008 at the age of 19 Taylor met Sheri while she attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Taylor was working as a police cadet for the Lynchburg Police Department at the time and Sheri was getting ready to leave for the summer to work at the Master's Inn.

By September of 2008 Taylor and Sheri started dating and in October Taylor asked Sheri to marry him. Even though they had only been dating for less than a month, Taylor knew that Sheri was the woman that he'd been praying for over the last several years. In December of 2008 Taylor made the second best decision of his life by saying "I DO" to Sheri.

Life is made up of choices. Through our choices we either sow seeds of life or death. The seeds sown through this choice have definitely produced a harvest of life, blessing, and increase within Taylor and Sheri 's growing family. Today, after 13 years of marriage, they have 6 children and are more in love than when they first met.

Career at LPD

Proverbs 13:12 - Hope deferred makes the heart sick....

In January of 2009 Taylor attended the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy located in Lynchburg, VA.  He graduated in June of 2009 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. In April of 2012 Taylor was awarded a dual purpose canine handler position within the department. It was during this time that Taylor and his partner Urs were assigned to the department's Street Crimes Unit.

On April 10 of 2013 Taylor was involved in a shooting that dramatically altered the direction of his life and career. Despite being exceptionally cleared from any wrong doing by the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office Taylor ended up leaving law enforcement around 7 months after the incident.

After being out of law enforcement Taylor realized he missed police work and ended up returning to work for the Lynchburg Police Department. He stayed with the department for the next 2 1/2 years working in the patrol division and the Street Crimes Unit.

Between the years of 2014 and 2016 several high profile incidents took place within the US that altered the outlook toward law enforcement across the nation. It seemed like law enforcement couldn't do anything right according to the general public. Officers were being sued left and right. Riots were breaking out in cities across the nation and organizations were specifically targeting law enforcement officers.

During this time period Taylor lost all hope, desire, and passion for the job. The "why" behind choosing law enforcement as a career had become buried under the pressures and circumstances surrounding the job. Not only did Sheri and their 4 kids suffer during this time but Taylor's relationship with God suffered as well. He never walked away from the Lord during his time as a law enforcement officer but his heart did become hardened to the things of God through what he experienced and saw on a daily basis. Not only that, but his mind was plagued by the unanswered questions he had surrounding the shooting he was involved in. All of this came to a tipping point in October of 2016 leading Taylor to leave law enforcement again.

Answering the Call

Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

After leaving law enforcement in October of 2016 Taylor accepted a position as the operations manager for Tri-County Maintenance located in Lynchburg, VA. It was during this time that he had an encounter with the Lord that radically changed the direction of him and his family's life.

One Sunday morning in November of 2017 Taylor's father, Steve, encouraged him to watch a healing testimony presented by a ministry out in Colorado called Andrew Wommack Ministries. Since Taylor and Sheri were unable to attend Church that Sunday morning they agreed to sit down as a family and watch the testimony together. Taylor and Sheri watched several healing testimonies that morning and even though they were extremely skeptical of what they were witnessing based on their denominational upbringing, something had been kindled within Taylor. There was something about these testimonies that he couldn't dismiss. As the Holy Spirit pricked his heart he was drawn to press in and search out if there was truth to what he saw and heard.

The small flame that was kindled while watching those healing testimonies developed into a raging fire over the next couple of weeks. As he began to listen to Andrew Wommack teach on "How to Hear God's voice", "Spirit, Soul, and Body", "The True Nature of God", and "The Authority of the Believer" questions that had been plaguing his mind surrounding the shooting he was involved in were being answered. Taylor's eyes were opened to the love, goodness, and grace of God like never before. The hardened heart that he had developed throughout his career in law enforcement was softening causing a tenderness and a sensitivity toward the things of God like he had never experienced before.

In December 2017 Taylor's wife Sheri bought him a book called, "The Believers Authority", written by Andrew Wommack, for their wedding anniversary. Over the next couple of days he finished this book and came to a page at the end titled, "Receive the Holy Spirit". This page contained a verse, a brief explanation on how and why we must receive the Holy Spirit, and then a short prayer. It was during this time, sitting alone in his basement, Taylor took a step of faith and prayed that prayer asking God to fill him with the Holy Spirit.

Taylor didn't feel any different after the prayer. Nothing supernatural took place in the natural but he believed that he had received the Holy Spirit, placing faith in the promise of God declared in Luke 11:13. As a result of this step of faith a dramatic change took place within Taylor over the next couple of weeks. It was as if a veil had been removed from his eyes. The word of God came alive to him. The Holy Spirit truly became his teacher. Taylor developed a love for God's word like never before and a boldness rose from within him to share the gospel with others.

Not only was Taylor's life changed by this, but his wife Sheri received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as well radically changing her life. Over the next 3 months a desire began to grow within both of them to move to Colorado to attend Charis Bible College, which was founded by Andrew Wommack. After praying and fasting over this decision both of them knew this was God's will. By August of 2018 they had sold their house, Taylor had left his job, and they began their trip moving across the country pulling a fifth wheel camper.

Charis Bible College

Romans 12:1-2 - I beseech  you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

By September of 2018 Taylor and Sheri had started their first year at Charis Bible College. Taylor attended Saturday hybrid school while Sheri attend classes during the evening. During their first year Taylor, Sheri, and their four children lived in a 360 square foot camper. Even though things were a bit tight, their kids had a blast camping every night and everyone grew closer together.

In February of 2019 Taylor and Sheri found out they were pregnant with their fifth child. As their first year of school came to an end the Lord blessed Taylor and Sheri with a duplex to rent around 2 miles from the college's campus. Even though this duplex wasn't huge, compared to a 360 square foot camper, it was a mansion and had more than enough room for all of their kids.

Taylor started his 2nd year at Charis Bible College in September of 2019 attending Saturday Hybrid School due to his work schedule throughout the week. It was during this year that God planted a desire in Taylor's heart for Weapons of Righteousness Ministries.

After graduating 2nd year in May of 2020 with an associates in Biblical Studies the Lord led Taylor to return to Charis for a third year to attend their Global Training School. It was during this year that God brought substance and structure to the vision of Weapons of Righteousness Ministries.

In order to graduate 3rd year at Charis, students must complete a project by the end of the year. Students are broken up into groups and given a ministry/business idea to develop and present in front of a panel consisting of different leaders within the school. Taylor submitted Weapons of Righteousness Ministries as his project idea. This idea was chosen by the leadership within Charis to be one of the ministries to develop and present. Taylor was assigned four of his classmates to work with him on developing this idea.

As Taylor and his group worked on this project he came to a realization that this was God's calling for his life. God had called him to minister to law enforcement.

In May of 2021, as the school year came to a close, Taylor and his group presented Weapons of Righteousness Ministries. As a result of this presentation the panel members and Taylor's fellow students ended up giving financially toward the start of this ministry.

The Move Back to VA

Proverbs 3:5 & 6 - Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

After graduating from 3rd year at Charis Bible College Taylor and Sheri decided to move back to the Lynchburg, VA area to start Weapons of Righteousness Ministries. Even though they didn't fully understand why the Lord was leading them in this direction they decided to step out in faith, standing on the promises of God, that He would direct their paths.

As Taylor and Sheri prepared for their second move across the country back to Virginia they began praying for direction regarding where they were going to live and what Taylor would do for work. For the past three years in Colorado Taylor ran a successful cleaning and restoration business which the Lord had blessed and increased each year that they were there. Even though Taylor was very comfortable doing this type of work he knew that the Lord had a different direction for him in Virginia. He felt in his heart that the Lord was leading him back into a career in law enforcement. A career that he thought he would never return to. Taylor believed that the Lord was leading him back to this field so that he could live out, as a testimony, what being a minister of God in uniform truly was. To display to others what it meant to be a weapon of righteousness for the Lord Jesus Christ. This was not an easy decision to make, especially for Sheri, who didn't have the greatest memories of being a wife to a law enforcement officer. Despite her reservations regarding this decision Sheri placed her faith and trust in the Lord believing that Taylor was hearing from and being led by the Holy Spirit.

After making this decision things moved quickly. Taylor contacted his older brother Brandon who was currently working for the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and inquired about any open positions available. Within 72hrs of making that phone call Taylor had a conditional offer of employment from the Sheriff.

By June, Taylor and his family had made the three day trip back to Virginia, had purchased a home in Appomattox, and had started work with the Sheriff's Office.

A New Beginning

1 Thessalonians 5:24 - He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

Since Taylor had been out of law enforcement for 4 1/2 years he was required to attend 22 weeks of the 28 week law enforcement basic school held at the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg, VA. This was the same academy Taylor attended 11 years prior to that while he worked for the Lynchburg Police Department.

Taylor wasn't over joyed with the fact that he had to attend the academy for a second time. There probably isn't a law enforcement officer out there that would be. One six month long academy is enough for a life time, let alone two, especially at the same location. Despite his feelings, Taylor knew that God was directing his steps and that this would be a good refresher for his transition back into law enforcement.

Many things at the academy were the same as they were 11 years prior to this. The academy was held in the same building, they wore the same uniforms, and attended the same training. Many would say that the only significant differences would be the laws and procedures that had changed since 2009. This is true, but there was one other major difference. Taylor was starting his career over with a completely different mindset then he had 11 years ago. His relationship with the Lord was completely different. He knew who he was in Christ and that he had been called to act as a minister of God in uniform. That he had been called to be a weapon of righteousness for the Lord Jesus Christ. This gave Taylor a completely different perspective starting over at the bottom alongside other recruits who had never been in law enforcement before.

In September of 2021, while attending the academy, Taylor began the process of starting Weapons of Righteousness Ministries. On December 15th Taylor graduated from the academy and began working in the patrol division.

Since his return to law enforcement Taylor has had the opportunity to shine the light of Jesus Christ in the midst of the darkness he encounters daily. His heart is that every law enforcement officer would surrender their entire life to the Lord Jesus Christ, being fully equipped with the armor of God; walking in His power, His freedom, His grace, His strength, His ability, and His love daily.

2 Corinthians 2:14 - Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
